In Aurora Public Schools, we believe it is essential that students have the support needed to transition into life after high school. As we celebrate College and Career Success Month, we want to highlight the importance of student plans. One of the goals of the APS strategic plan, APS 2020, is that all students develop plans for their futures. These plans lead many students to attend technical schools or four-year universities. For others, they immediately enter the workforce and start a promising career.

The planning process begins with our preschool students as they start to discover their interests and strengths. Students in grades 1-12 create Individual Career and Academic Plans (known as ICAPs) that help prepare them for success after high school. These plans also help teachers know what their students’ strengths, interests and goals are for the future.
